Darleen Johns sells Alphanumeric Systems to Karen and Harvey Braswell
March 23, 2009, Raleigh, NC—Darleen M. Johns announced today that Alphanumeric Systems, Inc. (Alphanumeric), is under the new ownership and leadership of Karen and Harvey Braswell of Raleigh, N.C.
Karen Braswell offers Alphanumeric her background in technology, public relations, customer support and leadership in numerous community service organizations. “Ms. Johns has supported the leadership of women in business for over 30 years,” said Karen Braswell. “I am proud that as the new owner, I can continue the success of Alphanumeric as a woman-owned business and continue to further the vision of equality in the technology field.”
The amicable transfer of company ownership represents a friendly business transition rarely seen in the business world. Discussions concerning the sale of the company sprang from informal conversations between Johns and Harvey Braswell during their 15-year friendship and many years of service together as members of the North Carolina Technology Association (NCTA).
“I’ve known and respected Mr. Braswell’s leadership in organizations we’ve been in together for many years and I am impressed with his knowledge of the industry that has helped build and grow many companies,” said Johns, founder and President of Alphanumeric. “I have full confidence that Mr. Braswell’s experience and insight along with Mrs. Braswell’s tremendous amount of energy and business savvy will propel Alphanumeric to the next level.”
Harvey Braswell brings over 30 years management, operations, sales and marketing experience to his new leadership role at Alphanumeric. His previous experience in the technology services field included identifying business growth opportunities for state and local clients for Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Business Records Corporation (BRC) and Affiliated Computer Services, Inc. (ACS). In these roles, he sought the most practical solutions to meet client needs, resulting in efficient and effective business outcomes.
Both Harvey and Karen Braswell view the continued success of Alphanumeric as a means to introduce more employment to the area as the business itself grows. “We look forward to building upon the solid foundation and legacy Ms. Johns has created for Alphanumeric by introducing a growth oriented business approach to create new opportunities for the company,” Harvey Braswell said. “Above all else, we are going to continue the tradition of offering exceptional customer service by cultivating the diverse talents of our employees.”
