On Wednesday, July 18, Alphanumeric hosted the first of what we hope will be many events honoring US military veterans. In coordination with the Veterans Treatment Court of Harnett County, we invited 20 veterans from all branches of service to join us for a Carolina Mudcats baseball game. When the day arrived, the veterans in attendance were able to meet and network with Alphanumeric business leaders, including our CEO Randy Trice, and hear a speech from Rob Campbell, a retired Army Colonel and founder of Investing in People Consulting and Coaching LLC.
To say it was well received would be an understatement! Mark Teachey, Program Director of Veterans Treatment Court, wrote me to say that “We are so fortunate to have your organization provide the wonderful celebration. You are building beautiful memories that aid in the transition for a healthy and sober future for the Veterans of this Program.”
Similarly, Gordon Harrington, Mentor Coordinator for Veterans Treatment Court, had this to say: “I am still overwhelmed and in awe of the generosity of all of you at Alphanumeric Systems. As you are obviously aware, it is difficult for some of our veterans to feel comfortable within large groups of people. Well, they all had a great time at the ballgame. Today at court several veterans who did not attend the game were asking to be included if other events are organized. That, in itself, is worth many therapy sessions. So, thank you for seeing and understanding how worthy of our support these veterans are. We sincerely appreciate your taking the time to demonstrate your thanks for their service.”
It’s an amazing feeling being a part of something like this! I’m so proud to work for a company that is actively giving back to the community and helping these veterans’ make real, positive changes in their lives! Stay tuned for updates as we start planning out next event.
